We want victims to know:
- They are not alone
- There are resources to help them
- They have a voice
Stereotypes and stigmas have silenced sexual assault victims for way too long. Our intention in creating this group and blog is to increase public awareness about the high prevalence of sexual assault. Also we aspire to generate a safe and healthy forum in which people can receive support in their time of need and can find direction to the proper resources to help them.

This will be a great resource especially because victims and supporters alike are allowed to remain anonymous. I mean if they learn to speak up here then maybe it will give them strength to speak up elsewhere! :)
At UGA even after that whole white van thing it still doesn't seem like there is too many place someone who has been violated can turn, so kudos! We know the administration won't do anything
This issue has been ignored for so long, its nice to know someone cares
Way to go! Can't wait to see what y'all do on Weds.
Are you guys starting a group at UGA permanently?M aybe a support group?
I'm so excited to see ya'll are doing this. This is an amazing cause and has so much potential...
Rape is really something we have to deal with as a culture and college campuses are the places to start.
Good job today guys, quite the spectacle today!
I also would like to praise your efforts to shed light on a serious problem in our society. I also want to remind students that there is an Office for Violence Prevention that was created a year ago to deal with these issues on campus. The OVP is a safe haven for support, healing and empowerment for survivors impacted by an act of violence. The OVP is in the process of creating a student group who will be active next semester. The OVP sponsored 14 programs this semester to address not only relationship and sexual violence but also sexual harassment. I continue to encourage everyone who is interested to contact the office for violence prevention to get involved. I'm always looking for student volunteers. Sexual assault awareness month is in april and will be planning for activities to also shed light on the issue of violence against women.
On a school bus when my son was 15 he touched the outside of a girls arm who he been friends with since Jr. Kindergarten. It was a Friday and the O.P.P. showed up at % to take him away in handcuffs!!! He was convicted, all because he refused to be her boyfriend!!! The Judge said it was at the lowest part of the spectrum but in Canada unwanted touching is Sexual Assault!!!! It ruined his life, no travel, used his college fund to pay for a lawyer! He can not leave the country at 19 and can't even get on a plane!!! He was a hunter and cannot go hunting, we are not allowed to take in our grandchildren!!! I think this is a worthy cause but she did all the real victims an injustice by doing this!!! Hopefully it never happens to her again cause no one will believe her!!! JUST SAYING!
